  1. i find that comment so... idiotic. no, you couldn't have done that because you didn't have that particular artists thoughts, feelings, or experiences needed in order to create what you are looking at when you say that. yes, i understand that you don't understand it and yes, perhaps what we are looking at might not even be good... but you could never have created it.

    that's exactly what made me laugh about this equation. i've often heard: "a child could have done it", which is worse... to me.

    but in the mean time, couldn't there be some sort of understanding? after all, if they say "i could do that", it can also mean that they understood it is possible for anyone to do that. not that particular piece of modern art, but just... doing (to not use the create-verb). which i like to think is true.

    that's what amused me in this equation. it is indeed actually a lot about doing/not doing.
    then the reasons why "you" didn't are most likely at the origin of the bitterness, contempt, fake indifference, or frustration that prompted you to say this "idiotic comment".
